My Journey:
My name is Shaesta Shahid. I pursued my graduation and postgraduation in Forensic Science from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. I passed out in the year 2021 and appeared for FACT 2022 in February and fortunately qualified the exam in Chemical Sciences.
Until then, I was not at all prepared to pursue Ph.D because I wanted to work at a Forensic Laboratory. But my mentors always wanted me to appear for the NET examination and pursue higher studies. On their advice, I took the entrance exam of Bundelkhand University for Ph.D and qualified for the exam.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t get enrolled as my marriage was fixed and soon I was supposed to marry due to some family obligations. In May 2023, I got married and in June 2023, I got a call to join CFSL, Guwahati but I didn’t join as it was not quite feasible for me to go and stay that far away from my family.
I appeared for the Feb and June UGC-NET examinations and was unable to qualify, and I knew the reason that as I was occupied with all the marriage rituals I couldn’t prepare well. I again appeared for the examination in June 2023 and scored decently but that exam really had very high cut-offs, and I was unqualified again by just 4 marks.
In September, I joined as an Assistant Professor at Devbhoomi Uttarakhand University, Dehradun. I gave my services there and parallelly prepared for the December exam after I came to my room after work. In the meantime, I also applied for a Ph.D. entrance at Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi. I again qualified the entrance as well as the interview round and got selected for Ph.D. there even before UGC NET results were announced.
Finally, the UGC-NET result was announced on 19.01.2024 and I took a sigh of relief when I looked at the result and found myself qualified for Assistant Professor. Hence, currently, I am a research scholar at Jamia Hamdard University with NET.
My husband and my family members had been my biggest support and cheerleaders. While I was preparing, I used to read books but I solely relied on Forensic MCQ for my question-solving practice and just used to solve the questions from this source only.
I have still not reached my goal. I am trying my best to qualify for JRF in the upcoming exam.
I hope my story inspires you.
